The trip to San Antonio was very exhausting but well worth it. I don’t know where I would be if I wouldn’t have seen this new doctor. She gave my mom an explanation about what was going on with me and she talked to me, as well.
My new doctor made me get an MRI done the week before the last and she showed my Mom and me the results and explained what the numbers and colors meant for my brain. She explained that my brain is so inflamed, that my cells that carry the blood and signals to the brain are too small to function as they should. Thus, causing my intrusive thoughts, OCD, and other odd behaviors. The higher my numbers get, the more inflamed my brain gets. The more inflamed my brain gets, the smaller my cells get. This makes it hard for me to focus and even comprehend math like an average teenager.
The treatment plan is kind of unknown at the moment. My doctor is a holistic neurologist and believes deeply in supplements and taking the natural approach to my treatment. She would like to get my IV-IG approved because that is one of the best treatments in the U.S. to solve my problem. I would have to get this treatment for at least six months and maybe longer if it doesn’t work like it should the first time. For me to get IV-IG, BCBS will need to cooperate and understand that this could potentially save my life.
I am very thankful for my new doctor! I hope she can solve my problem and make me my normal self again. It has been so long since I have been a normal kid who has a normal mind. I really appreciate this new doctor and I know that there is light at the end of the tunnel.
