Let me just make this short and sweet.
The STAAR TEST is the worst test in the history of tests! Teachers and school board leaders expect for us to do our best and try our hardest, but that is exactly what makes us fail.
TOP REASONS ON WHY KIDS FAIL THE STAAR:
1. Stress/Anxiety
2. Pressure
3. THIS TEST DETERMINES EVERYTHING!
I can vouch for all three of these reasons. When I took the test this week, I felt like my stomch was going to bottom out of me. I had the absolute worst stomach ache of my life. I felt like I couldn’t breathe and my mind literally blanked on the material that I reviewed. One year I had a girl in my class who had terrible test anxiety and she would have to take breaks to make sure she wasn’t over-doing it and getting too anxious. I also had a friend who would get severely ill over the test.
A test SHOULDN’T stress kids out this much. Maybe school officials should think about this. Would they feel calm, cool, and collected about taking a test that practically determines if they get to move up to the next level or not?
