As many of you guys know, I have recently received my first round of IVIG. I’m not going to say that going through the treatment process was hard, but I’m not gonna say that it was a walk in the park, either.
The first day of treatment wasn’t bad at all. All I did was sleep during most of the infusion process. The second day was when things started to get a little rocky. As my mom might have mentioned, we had to switch hotels on the second day of infusion. As soon as we all woke up, my mom booked us another hotel and we were gone. As we got settled at the other hotel I became nauseous and just didn’t feel right. When my dad and I got to the infusion center, we told my nurse my symptoms and she gave me the medicine that I needed. Towards the end of that infusion, I got a headache but it wasn’t that bad. All the symptoms began to get worse once we got to the hotel. I had the worst migraine, I was nauseous, my intrusive thoughts got bad, and I couldn’t eat. That was the longest night of my life.
Although my symptoms got better, my last day wasn’t just fabulous. First off, I am NOT good with needles! I just can’t! Despite the fact that I don’t like needles, the nurse decided to see if I had any good veins in my hand. This ended in my tears and her having to take the needle out and just put it in my arm, ONCE AGAIN. So not only did I get a needle in my hand, but I had to get poked in my arm as well. After I cried for a minute everything went smoothly and I began to feel better and I was able to go home. The car ride wasn’t bad at all. I guess because the nurse doped me up so I would be comfortable!
